There is a clear need to strengthen protections and legislate to tackle violence against women. I wrote to the Government and urged it to step up its actions in tackling violence against women and girls. Click the pdf link below to read the response I received.

Hackney Council has prepared an excellent set of local resources on understanding domestic abuse and how to get help if you’re a victim – see here. Please remember that if you’re in immediate danger, always call the emergency services on 999. You can call 101 for non-emergency enquiries. The National Domestic Violence Helpline is also a service open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It’s free to call on 0808 2000 247.

I am clear that no one should ever feel intimidated or unsafe when walking our streets. If you are a women or girl and have felt unsafe in a public space, please feedback your experience to Hackney Council here. The survey is open to anyone in Hackney who wants to feedback on this issue. Please note the survey closes on 25 January 2022.
