First elected in 2005, Meg has been a junior Home Office Minister and Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
In 2015, 2017, and again in 2019, Meg was elected by MPs from across both sides of the House of Commons to Chair the Public Accounts Committee.The cross-party committee scrutinises the value for money of public spending and holds the government to account for the delivery of public services. Before entering Parliament, Meg represented Hackney, Islington and Waltham Forest on the London Assembly, and was a local councillor for eight years.
