Private renting is unaffordable for too many in Hackney.

I’ve seen children grow into adults unable to move out of the family home because they cannot afford private rents, even though they working in good jobs with good salaries.

I pressed the most senior civil servant at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities on what plans the Government has to tackle unaffordable rents. See here to watch the hearing in full and see here to read a transcript.

If Levelling Up means anything, it must include action to support private renters in places like Hackney.
