The Prime Minister announced the plan for the further easing of lockdown restrictions on 19 July. Subject to a final review of the data next week, from Monday 19 July face masks will no longer be mandatory, all businesses still closed (such as nightclubs) will be able to reopen, and there'll be no social distancing requirements. See here for further details.

However COVID infection rates are continuing to rise at a fast rate. There are now as many COVID-19 cases in Hackney as during December 2020. See here for the latest COVID-19 data in Hackney.

Please remain cautious and consider others when in enclosed public settings. I, for one, will continue to wear my face mask in shops, transport settings, and other enclosed areas. If you have not already received your COVID-19 vaccine, please also book an appointment now - it's the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones. See here to book your appointment.

Also this week I pressed the Prime Minister on net zero and overcrowding at the Liaison Committee. This is the committee comprised of the Chairs of all House of Commons select committees. See my round-up for further details.

And if you are, or know any, local Hackney businesses that have faced problems with exporting to the European Union since Brexit - please let me know. I am working with small businesses and government officials to feed in their experience - please email meg.hillier.mp@parliament.uk with further details.

Finally, best of luck to Harry Kane and the team for this Sunday!
