The Chancellor’s announced more spending but still nothing for the forgotten freelancers. These are the hardworking taxpayers who are falling through the gaps in Government support. I’ve been clear that surviving on zero income is not a solution – these people cannot live on air alone.

This week I also secured a debate on local authority funding to call out the Government for failing to deliver the COVID-related support it promised. This shouldn’t be difficult – the Government promised to do whatever it takes to support councils throughout this public health emergency. The easing of alcohol licensing restrictions is simply adding further financial pressures. I’ll continue to work with colleagues across Parliament to press the Government to stick to its promise.
