Good news this week as the Government listened to my concerns about late night drinking in streets and parks, and backtracked on some of its proposed easing of licensing restrictions. No off-premises sales will now be permitted after 11pm.

This should help tackle some of the antisocial behaviour we’ve been seeing most weekends in Hackney parks like London Fields.

Also this week, the Public Accounts Committee held a hearing on immigration enforcement and I challenged the Home Office on what lessons they learnt from Windrush. See a transcript of our hearing here.

And there’s a small cluster of COVID-19 cases in North Hackney that is being well managed by our council and local public health teams. However, I pressed the Health Secretary yesterday about making sure we get the detailed data we need to avoid local lockdowns. See my question here.
