Domestic abuse is a tragedy, there were 29 domestic abuse killings in London last year.
A joint committee of Lords and MPs has been set up to undertake pre-legislative scrutiny of the draft Domestic Abuse Bill. This is when experts are called to give evidence about how the legislation can be improved before MPs consider it in the House of Commons.
The Home Office and Ministry of Justice conducted a joint consultation on domestic abuse from 8 March to 31 May 2018.
Following this consultation, the draft bill was published on the 21 January 2019. To read the draft bill click here.
The Joint Committee is now seeking views on the measures and reforms proposed by the Government in the draft Bill. See here for a brief overview of the measures proposed in the Bill and click here to submit your feedback.
The deadline for written submissions is 26 April 2019.
