The Big plastic count

The Big Plastic Count kicks off today. Join me and take part in the UK’s biggest ever investigation into plastic waste.

The UK produces more plastic waste per person than almost any other country in the world (only the US is worse). If things do not improve, then the global amount of plastic waste is set to double by 2040.

Currently there is not much evidence on the volume of plastic that leaves UK households. The Big Plastic Counts aims to reverse this. For one week (this week, 16 May - 22 May) you can tally your bottles, packets, and other plastic bits. This will then be fed into a national dataset, which will shine a light on how much plastic waste is really leaving our homes and what happens to it.
