The Chancellor announced the Autumn Statement this week, which attempted to fix 12 years of Conservative cuts and economic failure. The good news is that benefits and pensions will be uprated in line with inflation but otherwise the maths just doesn’t add up. The money announced for the NHS is, in fact, a real terms cut and will not be enough for it to even stand still. See me press the Chancellor on this here.

The Public Accounts Committee published a report on the animal health centre in Weybridge, Surrey. This complex of buildings is responsible for managing outbreaks of animal disease. But at this centre there were over 1,000 single points of failure that could cause major disruption. It is irresponsible of the Government to allow this centre to rot away. It is in need of investment. See here to read the report in full and here for a summary.

And I was delighted to be out and about for UK Parliament Week. I visited Randal Cremer primary school and the Bridge Academy, where I spoke with students about my role as an MP and yesterday’s Autumn Statement. I also visited St John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Mare Street.
